I took Maxx out for another hike this weekend and I gotta say, it was very invigorating. We usually hike up 2 hills, one of them being VERY steep and then we head back down. But as I got to the top of the second hill, I had a ton of energy still, so I decided to trek on. We walked a little further passed our normal break point and saw that there were a lot more trails just a half mile beyond that. So off we went. But before we started, Maxx took a couple of big swigs from my CamelBak as he was looking pretty thirsty.
So I let him drink for a few minutes and then cleaned it off so I could take a swig. And now we’re off. We cross a street which leads to the trails we’re heading to and then we’re back on a normal trail again. I unleash Maxx (I had leashed him when we were crossing the street, and good thing I did because a car came zooming around the corner) and let him sniff around a bit while I check out the map which was posted on the sign for the “Mission Trails Park”. There was a lot of different routes to take and each had their own level of difficulty. We chose a medium one and was off. (continue reading…)
z0mg!!! $500 for a 1-way flight to LAX from Central California!

So if you’ve been reading my posts and keeping tabs on the plans, you know that I’m leaving in 5 weeks. My original plan was to have my parents drive me to LAX the day of my flight, but after speaking to them, they made a good point that I overlooked – it’s a work night. Doh! After a day of thinking about it, pops called me up and said that they couldn’t drive me down because it was a late flight (9:30pm) and by the time they got home, it would be around Midnight. I wasn’t down with them doing that and obviously, from the phone call, either were they. My dad said it wasn’t a problem, they would get me a flight from San Luis Obispo (SLO) to LAX. I was semi-cool with that because:
- They weren’t driving 6+ hours to and from
- My travel time to LAX was now 1 hour

Crazy, Crazy Scene
If you’ve seen “Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas“, then you know exactly where this quote is from. It’s after he takes that, what was it, human adrenaline or something like that. He starts to trip out really bad and his buddy just goes and feeds the hysteria by repeating this. That whole scene was just too much chaos for myself, let alone that whole movie. I’ve seen it once, and that was once enough for me.
But that quote coms to mind after I just got finished inventoring my gear for the trip. I’ve got all my gear, it’s sitting in the other room so I can easily distinguish what is what. When I first started, my pile of gear was pretty small, so I started buying up what I needed. Made a list of stuff and all. But now that I look at the gear, I’m beginning to wonder if maybe I have too much, too much. (continue reading…)
