Political Rants

Don’t Tax me Bro!!

by TravelingWebGuy on Jun.12, 2009, under Political Rants, Political Stuff

taser So this is something that’s been on my mind for some time now and frankly, I just don’t get it. Maybe I’m just some stupid WebGuy who doesn’t know what I’m talking about, or maybe, just maybe, the same thoughts and questions which are running through my mind, are also running through others. So instead of keeping it to myself in fear of looking stupid, I’ve decided to ask the tough questions and hope that someday, someone with some credentials can get the balls to ask the lawmakers themselves these questions.

But the topic of this post is to discuss all these Federal Bailouts the “American People” are giving, to soo many, of these American Businesses. Some of these bailouts I can understand, all while others, I just read and gawk at the absurdity of them. We’ve been bailing out, Banks, Financial Institutions, Vehicle Manufacturers, etc… and for what? So a bad business can stay open? And the thing that pisses me off, and I know most others, is that the Government is bailing out these companies with our money! (continue reading…)

What! Are you racists?

by TravelingWebGuy on Nov.03, 2008, under My Life, Political Rants

smiley_wtfThat was the FIRST thing my older brother asked me after I told him I voted for McCain instead of Obama in the 2008 Presidential Elections. His second question was, “I bet you hate all gays too”! He was about to go to hockey game with one of this friends and I was just over hanging out. It was the night of the election and everyone who at his place was talking about the elections and how great it was that President Obama was elected. He turned around and asked me who I voted for, and being my brother, I didn’t think I would have gotten the response that I did. You had to of been there as well. The look on his face when he found out was absolute disgust. And even his buddy was in the background shaking his head in agreement with my brother. Dude, you don’t know, stop shaking your head like it’s all true!

After those initial questions, he went into a rant on why I should have voted for Obama and that he couldn’t believe who I voted for. I couldn’t believe that he was 100% serious with this questions/accusations and when I get that hint, I kindly made my way to the door and left. Walking out I could still hear him and his buddy ranting on about my terrible decision to vote for McCain… I just shrugged it off and went on my way. When it comes to my brother, the best way to win an argument, is to just walk away. The guy can talk and rant with the best of them and for some time, he wanted to be a lawyer, which in my mind, he would have been one hell of a lawyer, especially since he loved to debate or argue. Whichever you want to call it.

But I can’t sit here and bad mouth the dude. He has taken a lot of Political science classes and has a pretty good understanding of the political system. But his views are very strong and he is very “passionate” about those views. It’s hard to try and get your side out because he can pick apart lots of little things and turn it into a good debate. But in the end, the debate clock reads “Older Bro: 43 minutes”, “Younger Bro: 3 minutes”. Where’s a moderator when you need one?

In the end, next time I’ll keep my voting decision to myself.
